Here’s how I play the solo from Crazy Train. I don’t care if it isn’t exactly what Randy Rhoads played over 30 years ago, and neither should you.
Nothing is sacred. Find your own way.

Here’s how I play the solo from Tony Marcus’ song “Lone Star”. It appears on the soundtrack to Fallout: New Vegas. I can’t find much information about it, but it seems that Tony sang the vocal and the Lost Weekend Western Swing Band handled everything else. If that’s true, then I’m assuming Mark Holzinger played the solo, but I’m not certain.
In any case, it’s a fantastic solo.
Here are all the upcoming Pro-fé-cia shows:
October 10 @ The Epic Lounge in Downey, CA with our good friends Coatl and Fe D’ Ratas
October 25 @ the Hell & Heaven festival in Mexico City with KISS, Korn, Rob Zombie, Venom, Annihilator, Obituary, Rotting Christ, Angra, Overkill… damn near everybody!
Then we’ve got two back-to-back shows in November with Columbian black metallers Thy Antichrist. Friday the 21st in Huntington Park, CA, and Saturday the 22nd at You Revolution in Tijuana, BC, Mexico.
Here’s how to play Arlo Guthrie’s wonderful story-song “Alice’s Restaurant”. I play this tune all the time. It’s just a fun little ditty to mess around with.
Enjoy.
Here’s how I play the Neil Young song “Needle and the Damage Done”. He plays around a lot with this tune, but the general idea is always the same. Be sure to experiment with it and make up your own variations. Neil has been playing this song for over 40 years and he still comes up with new ways to spice it up.
We spent this past weekend (and will spend most of next weekend) working on a new Pro-fé-cia music video.
Lots of people on set took pictures, so I tried to gather them all together for a little preview of what’s coming.
This past Wednesday was September 11th, so I decided to figure out Rick Derringer’s “Real American”, which most people probably know as Hulk Hogan’s entrance theme. It’s a fun song with a quick little solo.
Enjoy.
I was in Boston this past week, which meant that I had a chance to grab some stuff out of storage. I had only bought this guitar a few months before I lost my home, so naturally I had to pull it out and bring it back with me.
First thing I played on it was “Wish You Were Here”, so I figured I’d make that tune this week’s solo lesson.
Enjoy.
There was a lot of drama surrounding the cancellation of Hell & Heaven 2014, but it’s been rescheduled for October 25th and still has a killer lineup… and Pro-fé-cia is, of course, a part of it!
KISS, Rob Zombie, Overkill, Angra, Christian Death, Obituary, Rotting Christ, Annihilator, U.D.O., Venom, Terrorizer, Havok, Maligno, Makina, Next, Wrecker, From Oblivion, Cemican… basically EVERY band.
Be sure to check http://hellandheavenfest.com/ for more information. New bands are being added/confirmed daily.
