Pro-fé-cia was back at Fuel Music Studios today to record additional guitar and bass tracks.

This solo has been blowing my mind since as long as I can remember. It is cookin’. I only discovered it was Jeff Baxter a few years ago, but it in no way surprised me (have you heard Reelin’ In The Years?)
Anyways, it’s a killer solo with great phrasing that very modestly stays inside the minor blues scale (except for one lick).
This is how it’s done, kids.
A couple weeks ago, this box from Seymour Duncan showed up:
Inside was a new custom neck pickup. I stayed up all night putting it in my guitar (I also took the opportunity to completely shield and rewire it), and it sounds killer now!

You may also notice that those strings are bronze wrapped. It’s an experiment, but so far I like it. It’s a darker sound than nickel/steel, closer to pure nickel. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a new sound (it also looks super sharp with gold hardware).
Pro-fé-cia will be playing the One Nation Fest in Mexicali next month along with Soulfly and our good buddies from Black Oil, Alvath, Galaxy Crusher, and Mad Temple!

Just finished tracking guitars for the new Pro-fé-cia songs over at Fuel Music Studio in Anaheim. They’re starting to take shape and are already sounding brutal!

Another request this week: we’ve got Aces High by Iron Maiden. This is actually two separate solos (one played by Dave Murray, the other by Adrian Smith) but they are really easy to play back-to-back, which isn’t always the case with dueling solos.
Dave’s solo is in A minor, mostly sticking to quick pentatonic stuff (as Dave is wont to do) while Adrian’s is in B minor with a couple blue notes.
Nothing to complicated, but a lot of fun.
Pro-fé-cia is the studio right now recording two brand new songs with special guest Aaron Rossi of Ministry behind the kit. They’re going to brutal.

As promised, here’s another solo for the week: Brad Nowell’s solo from Sublime’s “Santeria”.
I’ve always liked this solo; there’s one line in particular that I’m really fond of. Brad died pretty young, and this solo really makes you wonder how he would have developed as a soloist.
We just got added to this show a couple days ago.
It’s an all day deal at the Doll Hut in Anaheim. We go on at 3.
